Bird Watching
Bhutan is described as a paradise for bird watching.
The low-lying sub-tropical areas to the high alpine
zones (900m to 5500m) have made Bhutan home to
almost 675 species of birds. More are likely to be
found. The bird habitat is variable over a short
distance and is also defined by seasons. The
internationally endangered species “the Black Necked
Cranes” have made Bhutan its winter roosting place.
Greater Spotted Eagle, Baer’s Pilchard, Imperial
Eagle and Hodgson’s Bush Chart are some of the
endangered species found in Bhutan. Other globally
threatened birds are White Bellied Heron, Pallas’s
Fish Eagle, Chestnut Breasted Partridge, Blyth’s
Trogon, Wood Snipe, Dark Rumped Swift, Rufous Necked
Hornbill, Grey Crowned Prinia and Beautiful
Nuthatch. Bird watching tour program can be arranged
based on the interest of the clients.
